NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT GRANT INFORMATION
For evacuees from Louisiana and Mississippi who are sheltering in
Texas
, the Department of Labor is providing money to assist
those who are not qualified for unemployment assisstance or
insurance, to provide job training, crisis and financial
counseling, and to hire people to help in recovery and clean-up.
Contact the Texas Workforce Commission 1-800-818-7811 (8am-7pm;
Mon-Fri).
Residents remaining in their home states of Louisiana, Mississippi,
and Alabama
are eligible for national employment grant funds
in their own state by applying with theirstate labor department.
