Your United Way contribution goes toward bringing lasting change, right here where you live. With your support, we continue to improve lives and build stronger communities.
109 programs work to achieve measurable results by focusing on EDUCATION, INCOME, & HEALTH. A quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and goo d health.
Money is important to the success of United Way and our funded programs, but a crucial piece of the United Way puzzle is volunteer participation. Each year over 100 volunteers from all walks of life come together to serve on Community Investment Teams (CIT). Each team studies 5-7 of our partner programs to measure their effectiveness at achieving community goals. They look at their budgets, demographics, service area and much more to determine what programs are making the most impact helping kids succeed in school, helping families achieve financial stability, and improving community health.
These volunteers dedicate about 20 hours to the process, which includes spending an entire day visiting each program they evaluate. They ask the tough questions and they have high expectations. Their goal is to be good stewards of your donor dollars. They work to insure that those hard earned and generously given dollars make the greatest impact on the community.
CIT volunteers see their community in action. The witness first hand the true need and the incredible people whose life’s work is to help those in need.
We all win when a child succeeds in school and graduates, when families have stable jobs with enough income to sustain them through retirement and when the people in this community have good health. United Way’s CIT process is a huge part of making that happen.
