Success By 6 & Family Fundamentals Children's Day Event was a Great Success

Monday March 30, 2009

381 parents, grandparents, and children, along with 110 agency & community volunteers enjoyed a beautiful, windy day at Family Fundamentals Children's Day 2009.

Outside children were able to plant windmills in Heartland For Children's "Winds of Change" windmill garden, make and decorate newspaper hats, make butterfly puppets, create paintings and sand art, sing & dance with Bert Howard of Howard Entertainment and more.

Inside children enjoyed the Drug Prevention Resource Center's new tobacco awareness puppet show, made healthy snacks in the kitchen and had story time with a make and take activity. In addition, Americorp gave each child a book to take home and Polk County Safe Kids distributed 130 bicycle helmets with fittings and 22 families had their car seats inspected at the Safe Kids car seat check-up.

Thanks go out to Jim & Enza Rhodes, along with Shelby for kicking off the event and the Family Fundamentals and SB6 staff for all of their hard work.
