2025 Hunger Action Summit

Celebrating Commitment at the 3rd Annual Hunger Action Summit

The 3rd Annual Hunger Action Summit recently brought together community leaders, organizations, and advocates to address food insecurity and align resources in Polk County. Held on February 19 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., this impactful event was organized by Polk County Food Security Council through Polk Vision and highlighted our collective commitment to creating a food-secure future for all. The Polk County Food Security Council is co-chaired by United Way COO, Rod Crowley, Ed.D. and Nicole Walker.

The keynote speaker for the event was Kiran Gaudioso, CEO of United Way of Northern New Jersey and President of United for ALICE. Kiran’s inspiring words resonated with all attendees as she shared her insights and experiences in combating food insecurity and uplifting vulnerable populations. Her leadership and dedication to the cause set the tone for a productive and motivating summit.

The success of the summit was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Polk Vision, Polk County Public Schools, the Wawa Foundation, United Way of Central Florida, and the University of Florida IFAS. Their support ensured that key stakeholders could convene to discuss and strategize on aligning food programs and resources to better serve the community.

Throughout the morning, attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, workshops, and networking sessions, all focused on innovative solutions to address food insecurity in Polk County. The event celebrated the progress made and identified new opportunities for collaboration to further the mission.

One of the highlights of the summit was the collaborative spirit and shared commitment to creating a food-secure Polk County. The event provided a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and forging new partnerships that will help achieve the collective goals.

United Way of Central Florida is grateful to everyone who participated in the 3rd Annual Hunger Action Summit and contributed to its success. Together, they are making strides toward a future where no one in the community goes hungry. They look forward to building on this momentum and working collectively to create lasting change.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to their mission.
