Families who receive UWCF funded services improve credit scores (which helps them to qualify for jobs, housing and lower interest rates on car and home loans), reduce debt, increase emergency savings and earned job credentials that increase family income.
After an extensive 2010 study of local poverty, UWCF re-established Consumer Credit Counseling. There had been no coordinated financial education services for hard working low-income families in Polk County for 20 years.
Working with local banks and financial advisors, UWCF established credentialed financial education instructors, money mentors and money coaches to help families successfully utilize banking services, live on a budget, increase emergency savings, improve credit scores and reduce debt. Funded providers help clients to earn job credentials that increase family income.
