Looking for a fun way to get involved in the community? United Way of Central Florida’s new food drive, Build United, is an exciting opportunity that will stock local food pantries and allow your creativity to shine.
Today is the final day to register at uwcf.org/build.
The Lakeland-Winter Haven metropolitan area has a food hardship rate of 23 percent, the second highest in the country, according to the Food Research and Action Center.
Build United aims to help this problem. Additionally, we want you to have fun with it and create a work of art with your collections. Build the most creative and visually captivating sculpture you can think of out of donated, non-perishable food. It could be a building, a truck, a replica of the Eiffel Tower, whatever!
We are proud and very grateful for our partnership with Publix Super Markets Charities, which will donate $1 for every can collected, up to $50,000! These funds will be invested in Financial Education classes at a few of the organizations where families will be picking up food.
The extended deadline to register is March 29th and you’ll have until April 12th to finish your can-made construction. Once your creation is complete, take a photo and email it to email@example.com.
UWCF will then post all photos to our Facebook page where voting will begin!
That’s right, Build United is also a contest! In addition to a Facebook vote, we will have prominent guest judges from the community vote on other awards. Your team could win one of the following:
• Tallest Creation
• Most Food Collected (All food counted for this award does not need to be part of display. This is for overall food collected by team.)
• Most Creative
• Facebook Favorite
• Judges Choice
• The Golden Can Award

To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your team leader’s name, email and phone number. Also include your company/organization/school name and a unique name for your team. And be sure to include “Build United” in the subject line.
