Cotton Ball Counting

Instructions:

Prior to introducing this activity to your child, you are going to need to do a little prep. (we made these for the Cheerio Counting activity, so you may have your leftover from then).

1. Create your number cards
2. Make as many as you see fit for your child.
3. Also consider their capabilities. Some children may need to start with 1-5 first, and some children may be ready to work on much larger numbers.
4. You will give your child a hand full of cotton balls and tell them you’ll be working on counting with them.
5. Show them the number cards you made.
6. Let them know that each circle represents one cotton ball so that is where they will put them.
7. Once they have filled in their number cards, encourage them to go back and count them again.
   • You could see if they can count how many total cotton balls there are on the page.

Extension:

Using cotton balls for other activities such as:

1. 1. Make a sheep by gluing cotton balls onto a piece of paper.
      • Draw on a face and legs.
   2. Make a cloud by gluing cotton balls onto a cloud shape.
   3. Sponge paint with cotton balls
