Adult Day Training services at Ridge Area Arc
The Adult Day Training program at Ridge Area Arc emphasizes the development of skills necessary for daily living, self-advocacy, adaptive capabilities, and social interaction. These services are available from Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Highlands County. Training sessions are conducted both individually and in small groups. A diverse range of classes is offered, including subjects such as academics, computer skills, cooking, personal hygiene, grooming, safety, and more. Instructors from South Florida State College also conduct Adult Basic Education classes on campus. These services aid participants in their independence and financial stability.
Community activities encompass excursions to libraries, fitness centers, and volunteer opportunities at the Heartland Foodbank, Hands For Homeless, The Shepherd’s Pantry, and The Humane Society.

* 20 of our consumers participated in our Through Their Lens Photograph Exhibition and were honored with an opening reception at The Peter Powell Roberts Museum.
* We introduced a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program aimed at teaching people skills to help them manage their condition and live the life they want to live. This includes life skills, work skills, and social skills.
* Our consumers have dedicated countless hours to volunteering at organizations such as the Humane Society, Heartland Food Bank, Heartland Horses, and Hands for Homeless. These efforts provide a sense of purpose and community.
* We embraced the enthusiasm of the Summer Olympics and hosted our version known as The ADT Olympics. We were grateful to receive additional support from missionaries from the First Naples Church for this special event.
* 20 consumers represented Ridge Area Arc at Advocacy Days in Walt Disney World. Not only did we make lifetime memories, but we also learned about self-advocacy and met new friends from around the state of Florida.
