It is with profound sadness that we recognize the passing of Cindy Price, a remarkable volunteer, donor, and community leader whose impact will be felt for generations across Central Florida.
Cindy’s life was defined by her unwavering dedication to the community she loved. A proud Auburndale native, she poured her time, energy, and heart into making Central Florida a stronger, more compassionate place for all. Her service touched countless lives through her involvement with organizations such as the United Way of Central Florida, Polk Vision, the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, the Community Redevelopment Agency, and the Community Foundation.
Cindy’s journey with United Way began in 1992 as a loaned executive and continued through many years of leadership and advocacy. In 2009, she was honored with United Way of Central Florida’s George W. Jenkins Outstanding Volunteer Award, recognizing her tireless commitment to improving lives across the region. That same year, the Auburndale Chamber named her Citizen of the Year—a tribute to the depth of her service and the high esteem in which she was held.
A former board chair for United Way of Central Florida, Cindy led with grace, purpose, and compassion. A 2009 Ledger article noted that on her desk sat a thank-you card from a fellow volunteer that read, “I appreciate your confidence and strength.” That simple sentiment captures the spirit Cindy shared so freely—strength that empowered others and confidence that inspired action.
Former United Way of Central Florida President & CEO Terry Worthington shared, “Cindy’s leadership strength grew from an unselfish commitment to truth, fairness and serving those that are too often disregarded. She was fearless.”
Professionally, Cindy served as a regional manager for Tampa Electric Company, where she brought the same care and commitment to her work that she did in her civic life. She was known for building bridges between business and community, always looking for ways to help others thrive.
“Cindy Price blessed us all with her leadership and a true love for her community. In the spirit of Edward Bok, the world was better because Cindy Price lived in it,” said Cindy Alexander, former United Way of Central Florida COO.
Cindy Price was more than a civic leader—she was a loving wife to her husband, Perry, and a devoted mother to her two sons, Christopher and Alex. Her family, friends, and colleagues will remember her as someone who led with kindness, served with humility, and lived with purpose.
Her legacy is one of service, strength, and compassion—values that will continue to inspire and guide us. Rest in peace, Cindy. Thank you for everything.
