No one does their best at school or at work if they are hungry, sick or in pain. The services for all seven initiatives are available to students and families at Crystal Lake Elementary, A UCF Certified Community Partnership School.
You cannot help a child without meeting the needs of the family. You cannot help parents without meeting the needs of their children. Neighborhoods are restored one family at a time.
With help from UWCF, Crystal Lake Elementary has expanded learning opportunities, including year-round tutoring, mentoring, parent education and educational opportunities to encourage a love of learning while helping students to avoid summer back-slide.
Core instructional programs provide professional development for teachers, administration and counselors (including graduate courses on campus). Financial education, job training and consumer credit counseling are available to help individuals and families find and maintain financial stability. ESOL classes include tutoring and mentoring for children of participants.
Crystal Lake Elementary provides comprehensive support services addressing medical, dental, and behavioral health care through a full-service clinic on campus operated by Central Florida Health Care.
Additionally, Central Florida Health Care and UWCF operate a bi-monthly food distribution on campus through the George W. Jenkins End Hunger Initiative.
