Ask your child if they know anything about what lives in a pond.
Using the internet, look at photos of different pond life and engage your child in a discussion about them.
What do these things need to survive?
Make a pond picture. Encourage your child to draw a pond and include some of the life that may live there.
Please note this is not an art project and is NOT expected to look perfect. The focus of this is to both strengthen your child’s motor skills and hand muscles as well as strengthen their ability to recall all the things they learned from your discussion.
Extension:
If possible, go to a lake or pond and look for some of the wildlife you and your child talked about.
See how many things you can find that you had not previously talked about.
