The Boys and Girls Clubs of Polk County bring HOPE

Guest Blogger: Boys and Girls Club of Polk County

Where there is no vision, the people perish. -Proverbs

Many have interpreted this biblical passage, to mean that “vision” (in this context), refers to “vision of the future”, or HOPE.  And whether that is accurate or not, a future without HOPE, is indeed soul-crushing (which is one reason why people perish).

Jayden is 8 years old. He has no father in his life, his mother died of COVID in 2020, he still carries her picture and grieves every day. He is being raised by his grandmother and has a hard time interacting with other kids in social situations.  Some of the lessons he learned in the last year, have been lost over the summer.  How do we feel about his HOPE for the future?

Actually, pretty good. You see, he is a member of our Boys & Girls Club in Haines City, where he has had regular conversations with our mental health counselor and his Mentor, is long time champion for our youth, Curtis Reddick.  Why does that matter? Listen to Curtis’ “Why”:

So when you start with that kind of passion, at a safe, supportive, caring environment, where you receive help with school, exercise, attention and a hot meal, well those things build confidence, which is at the root of all HOPE.  We are proud to be not only serving our community, but growing our reach and still able to say… that with so many things being cancelled in the past few years…

And it’s a good thing, because thousands of kids per year count on us to be Dealers In HOPE. We Build Great Futures!  As for Jayden, his vision, his HOPE is aided by someone who has devoted his life to Great Futures! That gives us HOPE!

Curtis and Jayden

If you are a dealer in HOPE , please invest in our Future! Thank you for Making A Difference!

Thank you Boys & Girls Club of Polk County for being an incredible partner in our community!
