$9.2 Million Available for Polk County Wellness Programs

United Way of Central Florida announces a $9.2 million for year two of their partnership with Polk County to expand wellness programs in Polk.

UWCF desires to receive requests for proposals from 501(c)(3) for; New programs/services and Expansion or existing programs/services with the possibility of multi-year funding. Additionally, specific funding is expected to be set aside for 2023-24 one-year term programs/services.

UWCF is seeking 501(c)(3) nonprofits to apply for a portion of the $9.2 million from Polk County to provide services in:

  • Behavioral Health: Programs meant to improve the psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing of Polk County residents.
  • Prevention / Early Intervention: Programs and services that provide active, lifelong process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthier and fulfilling life. Prevention / Early Intervention programs and services do not have to include a Behavioral Health component but must have a “health” component.

Services must be provided to qualified Polk County residents as defined in section 212.055(7) Florida Statutes and Polk County Ordinance 2015-076.

“All of the health studies in the United Community Needs Assessment identified behavioral health as a top priority for our tri-county area,” Said Christina Criser Jackson, President & CEO of UWCF. “The Community Wellness programs we are able to fund thanks to the Polk County Board of County Commissioners allows us to tackle those needs head-on.”

Residents of Polk County without healthcare insurance and are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for services provided by this program.

July 1st through July 31st, Nonprofits can apply by filling out the Request for Proposal application linked below. Applicants can email questions to wellness@uwcf.org or visit uwcfwellness.com for more information.

Nonprofits interested in applying are asked to attend the Request for Proposals Grant Orientation meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18th. Those interested can RSVP to the virtual Zoom meeting by emailing wellness@uwcf.org.
