During past crises, we’ve always risen to the challenge: growing victory gardens during WWII, raising flags after 9/11, stacking sandbags during floods, helping our neighbors clean up after hurricanes or tornadoes.
We are again facing such a crisis, and we must not forget the people in our country who are struggling with the financial effects of COVID-19.
As millions are on lockdown, businesses shutter and schools remain closed, unemployment is spiking. And children who rely on free- and reduced-price breakfasts and lunches at school may be missing meals.
That’s why United Way of Central Florida has partnered with GiveWell Community Foundation to create the United Community Relief Fund — to shore up community-based organizations, emergency-relief programs and other local resources that will continue to be strained in the coming weeks and months as this pandemic continues.
We ask you now to embody the community spirit manifest in this country for more than two centuries.
In a time of uncertainty, a gift to the United Community Relief Fund is a gift of hope.
United we will win.
