Creating Bright Futures with Early Development Services
When Charlie was two-and-a-half-years old, he struggled to communicate. His parents applied for School Readiness services through the Early Learning Coalition of Florida’s Heartland. ELCFH gave Charlie’s family the ability to place him in a childcare facility close to home. Through the center, Charlie was screened for development issues so they could be addressed.
An ELCFH Child Development and Education Specialist gave Charlie’s parents and his childcare provider focused activities to do to help improve his communication, fine motor skills and personal social skills. After working on these skills, a follow up screening discovered that Charlie has shown growth in all areas of concern!
His parents shared “Since we and the teachers at Charlie’s center started working with him on the activities given, we have definitely seen growth. At first he would only cry and point to tell us what he wanted. Now he communicates with us using word and even full sentences. He has made real improvements and is doing great!”
Charlie’s future is brighter because of the services received at ELCFH, made possible through United Way of Central Florida funding.
