Supervised Visitation, a United Way of Central Florida Success By 6 (SB6) program, is located within The Carol Jenkins Barnett United Way Children’s Resource Center at Bonnet Springs Park.  SB6 Supervised Visitation is committed to strengthening families and our community by:

  • Increasing access to resources and services.
  • Empowering, supporting, and inspiring parents to be their best.
  • Providing fun activities in a family-friendly environment.
  • Preparing children for not only school, but for life, with all the mental, social, and emotional foundations needed to succeed.

At the Children’s Resource Center, we also host daily classes and services for caregivers and children aged from birth to five years old.

Our Supervised Visitation Program allows Dependency Court case managers to focus their energy on other responsibilities with the assurance that families are safe as they rebuild relationships in a warm, inviting setting. Our program uses modeling of essential parental skills, such as bonding through play, reading, and communication, to get families closer to reunification. Children leave each visit with a brand new, age-appropriate book and parents are encouraged to take advantage of all that our partners have to offer. Families are also able to extend their family time, after their scheduled supervised visit, with free entry to the Florida Children’s Museum or take in the multitude of outdoor playground spaces within the expansive Bonnet Springs Park.

We give families a warm environment to learn  together and send them home with the tools they need to make that learning last and welcome them back day after day. At the Children’s Resource Center, we strive to make early childhood development, and literacy a top priority in Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties by providing a convenient, one-stop location for families of all walks of life to receive services and resources they need to flourish.

Heartland for Children, the lead community-based care agency for the 10th Judicial Circuit, believes so firmly in our mission that they have supported our Supervised Visitation Program with a grant to ensure that we can continue to provide for our community. Referrals for visitation must be made by the Dependency Court Case Manager. The case management agencies for Polk County are Children’s Home Society, One Hope United and Lutheran Family Services.
