The Family Healthcare Foundation Navigators are here to help!

Guest Blogger: Brenda Luna, Healthcare Navigator, Family Healthcare Foundation

It is an exciting time to be part of the central Florida healthcare community. Through the collaborative efforts of Family Fundamentals and The Family Healthcare Foundation, the resources available to our community have expanded exponentially. This innovative partnership brings unbiased, and highly trained Navigators from the Family Healthcare Foundation to Family Fundamentals (soon to be The Carol Jenkins Barnett United Way Children’s Resource Center). Navigators provide free and confidential one-on-one assistance to help families obtain equitable access to high quality health insurance coverage. It also highlights the dedication of both organizations’ commitment to collectively provide resources and education to the community.

Based on the United Way’s mission to improve by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good, The Family Healthcare Foundation will support the Children’s Resource Center in the health sector of their impact initiatives which include early child education, academic achievement, financial stability, end hunger, community partnership, and basic needs. The health sector is vital to these initiatives; no one individual can strive to achieve the above-mentioned goals if they are not healthy. Navigators will be strategically located at the Children’s Resource Center within Bonnet Springs Park to provide help with application assistance for The Health Insurance Marketplace, Florida KidCare, and Medicaid. These services are provided FREE in person, or by phone and virtually depending on the person’s needs. Every case is different and that is why the navigator role is so important; to assess and provide the appropriate tools for an individual and family to make an informed decision about all the available programs.

Within the upcoming year, The Family Healthcare Foundation’s goal is to be the trusted health insurance resource for the community. We want to bring awareness to those that are uninsured, underinsured, and underserved. By creating a safe and trusted space, we will be able to reach more people in the community as word-of-mouth spreads and confidence grows. These efforts will ensure a stronger, healthier, and connected community that we all aspire to be a part of. The future is bright with The Carol Jenkins Barnett United Way Children’s Resource Center and The Family Healthcare Foundation by your side. We look forward to serving you.

Speak with a Navigator by calling 813-995-7005. When we are healthy, we are happy, vibrant, and thriving.
